What are ‘Pay What You Can’ tickets on the door?
G’day guys, it’s Clifton here. Along with Matt, Rudy and Darren, we’re pushing to bring more music to Darwin stages in 2026 and beyond.
Like anybody, we understand the pressures of this cost of living crisis we’re in. Food’s up, fuel’s pricier than ever, and we’re getting tighter with what we can put our money on. This means that people tend to stay at home, and not put money on coming to shows to support their local musicians.
So, in light of what’s going on, we’ve started using Pay What You Can for our gigs.What does that mean for you?It means if you need a free ticket, take one.If you can pay for one, pay it forward.Whether it’s $0 or $100, we perform for you, and not the money we make off doing what we love.We get it. Sometimes it can be hard to put cash towards shows when everything else costs more and more. By using this system, we’re pushing for more people to feel welcome at our shows, without worrying about the money.
So next time when you’re thinking of staying home to save some coin, know there’ll be a space for you in front of stage. We’ll take care of giving you a great show, and you can take care of what matters.
